Animal feed

Part of the pulp and by-products of sugar beet is used for animal feed. Pressed or dehydrated pulp and molasses are used in the manufacture of products for feeding livestock. The beet pulp we sell has many nutritional benefits for animals (source of energy and highly digestible fibre) and is also produced using sustainable farming and industrial processes.

Part of the beet pulp volume is allocated to Cristal Union’s cooperative members for local animal feed and fermentation, while also enabling us to develop our decarbonisation and energy production strategy at our sites.

Today, Cristal Union has several dehydration units at its sites in Bazancourt, Sidésup in Engenville, Prodeva in Vatry and Sainte-Émilie.

Some examples:

Dehydrated alfalfa in 6 mm pellets, formulated to contain around 18% protein,
has multiple nutritional benefits.

Dehydrated beet pulp in 6 mm pellets is known to have a high concentration of energy and dietary fiber which is easily digested.

Dehydrated alfalfa in balled strands, designed to provide long fibers without diminishing the energy and protein concentration of feed given to ruminants.
