Overview
Cristal Union Group is a cooperative representing about 20% of beet production in France and operates four main businesses :
- Sugar used for industry and the food sector (Daddy and Erstein)
- Alcohol and ethanol (carburization, manufacturing, perfume-making, cosmetics, food, spirits)
- Natural, antioxidant products with high added value for the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries, food supplements and oenology products (polyphenols, resveratrols, etc.)
- Dehydrated products for animal feed
With the production and use of ethanol as a biofuel, Cristal Union has taken a major step forward into the future of the French energy sector. Building on its ultra-modern Arcis and Cristanol distilleries and its investments in Goyard, Bourgogne Alcools and Burgundy, the Group boasts a leading position in two extremely promising sectors, renewable energy and high value- added molecules.
Today, with average annual production of 800,000 tonnes of sugar, 400 million litres of alcohol/ethanol, 150,000 tonnes of pellets (beet and lucerne pulp), Cristal Union has become a major player on the markets for sugar, thanks to its business subsidiary CristalCo, for traditional, vinic and ethyl alcohol through its subsidiaries France Alcools, Ethanol Union/Holding and Deulep and for dehydrated products for animal feed through Désialis.
